Description of work

This is a perpetual shield made for Temple Grafton Church of England primary school near Stratford. It will be presented annually as a computing award. The headteacher had spotted the maths shield on the website and requested something similar. The maths shield is bowl shaped, making the fixing of the small annual pentagons quite tricky (they are on stems and float above the bowl). I can do this for Malton School each year as they are local. For Temple Grafton the front of the shield has been made flat, so the annual pentagons can be fixed much more simply.

An alternative version is in the middle below - this one was for progress in maths for another primary school.

Obviously there will come a time when the shield can take no more pentagons. Either an extension or a new shield will be made at that point. I calculate that this one will take 15 years before it is full, so it is not an urgent problem!

The price within the range suggested will depend on the amount of pyrography required (particularly if an intricate coat of arms or badge is required) . Add £12 for a plinth and support. For example, a wall hanging version of this pentagon with its fairly straightforward badge and wrinting would cost £60, one standing on a plinth would be £72.

Inidividual pentagons can be provided annually, inscrbed as required, for a nominal fee to cover postage and materials (say £3).
