Description of work

A 12" wall plaque, or platter, turned from sycamore forms the base for this pyrographed picture. The subject is Bodhi, my niece's little pug, when he was a puppy. Bodhi is the enlightened one - he knows everything, although being a pug he tends to keep his knowledge to himself.

I tend to use sycamore for pyrography, because of the fine grain and light colour. More grainy woods such as ash can cause problems, different sections of grain burning at different intensities and creating an uneven effect.

I can do similar items for other dogs or pets, given a reasonably clear (contrasting) photograph. An electronic photograph would be ideal.
