Description of work

A hollow form and bowl both turned from olive ash. Olive ash occurs at the centre of the trunk, and is much darker than the usual light colouring of ash. This accentuates the strong grain patterm found in ash.

The piece is more a "hollow form" than a bowl, with a hole at the top about 3 inches in diameter, not quite enough to get a hand in easily, so the form is more of a decorative piece than one having any practical purpose.

This bowl is finished with oil, leaving a matt sheen rather than a high polish.
